CM lays foundation stone for Keezhadi Museum

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami laid the foundation stone for the construction of museum at Keezhadi village that is between Madurai and Sivagangai on Monday via video conferencing.

Keezhadi Excavation Site which has a wealth of data of Tamil Nadu’s history has triggered the public’s interest about the Sangam period settlement. Since June 2015 several excavations have been going on and the 6th phase of the excavation began on February 2020.

Over the course of period several artifacts that were 2200 years old were excavated. The graffiti/scripts that were found in the site have revealed a lot of shocking details about the history and the language.  Several hundreds of objects of the ancient period have been found and a museum at this kind of place will certainly enlighten the public, aspiring historians and scholars.

The museum is being constructed with a budget of Rs. 12.25 crores, reported sources.
