CRPF’s sewing machine donation will facilitate job & curb COVID transmission

Central Reserve Police Force which is battling the visible enemy and lost 3 CRPF Personnel on Monday in a militant attack, is engaged in keeping the country from the external threat, and at the same time came forward to support the marginalized community in Delhi NCR during this COVID-19 pandemic  by donating around 14 sewing machines through Healthy Aging India (HAI).HAI is a NGO formed by doctors of AIIMS, Delhi.

The donation was done at Jose Marti Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Delhi. Ajay Kumar Yadav, IGP, CRPF presided the donation and on behalf of Anand Maheshwari, DG, CRPF, congratulated HAI for its support to the poor.

“The sewing machines will enable the preparation of 1,00,000 cloth masks that will also lead to income generation and rehabilitation of 100 families dwelling in 5 slum clusters of Delhi NCR,” said Dr.Prasun Chatterjee, Associate Professor, Department of Geriatric Medicine, AIIMS.

Since March 27, HAI has been taking care of the food needs of the slum clusters of Delhi. The NGO has so far provided 1 lakh free nutritious meals to the marginalized in Delhi, and this latest donation by the CRPF will further help them to be of service.

It must be mentioned that CRPF personnel collectively donated Rs.33 Crore  on March 26, 2020 to PM CARES Fund.
