Tamil Nadu CM addresses District Collectors via Video Conference

The Central Government has sorted cities, districts and states into certain color groups – Red, Orange and Green based on their different levels of impact due to COVID-19.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami held a Video Conference session with District Collectors of the State on Wednesday and discussed with them about the State’s views on lowering lockdown and providing other relaxations.

He said that except Chennai, all other districts are doing well in the battle against COVID-19. He mentioned Amma Canteens are remarkably serving the needy’s hunger.

In the meeting, CM said that Government will gradually provide orders for conduct of trade and business.

With only one district in Tamil Nadu-Krishna Giri being in the green zone, the CM said that it is in the hands of people to turn all the districts green.

He advised the District Collectors to execute the lockdown properly. If Volunteers and NGOs are required to make public follow social distancing at Grocery and ration shops, he advised them to seek their help because social distancing is being broken at these two places mostly.

Corporation Restrooms should be cleaned thrice with disinfectants.

He spoke about the deploying 100 Days Employment scheme but advised that people above 55 shouldn’t be included whereas one of their family members could be given opportunity.

Proper mask, gloves and social distancing should be followed while working under 100 days employment scheme.

He asked the District Collectors to make sure that agri-produces of farmers in a District get sold in the respective areas in time. All agriculture works can resume after the lockdown.

In case of movement from other States or districts, only those with travelling passes should be allowed to step inside the State, the CM advised.
