Brain dead woman posthumously saves 7 lives

A 38- year old woman belonging to Namakal District – P.Thangamani met with an accident near Veppadai village (of the same district) on 15.10.2019 at 15.10.2019.  Immediately she was taken to Erode GH for first aid treatment, then after to KMCH Avanashi Road Coimbatore, for specialized treatment. P.Thangamani didn’t respond much to the treatment and was declared brain dead on 21.10.2019.

Despite the grief-filled moment, her husband Palanisamy, daughters Nandhini & Gokila came forward generously to donate P.Thangamani’s organs. On 21.10.2019 afternoon, Multi Organ Transplant Surgeons and team harvested Heart Valve, Liver, Kidneys, Eyes, Skin and Bone from the deceased. The harvested organs i.e. Liver & One Kidney were transplanted at KMCH, One Kidney, Eyes, Skin & Bone was sent to a private hospital at Coimbatore,  Heart Valve  was sent to a private hospital at Chennai. The family members felt proud that her organs gave new lease of lives to 7 needy people.

Honoring their gesture, Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH thanked the family for their bold and timely decision on organ donation.
