The aftermath of the flood induced by incessant rainfal in the Nilgiris earlier this month projects the devastation the valley has endured. As per data, this rainfall is the highest in the region’s history. The natural disaster has led to the death of 6, meanwhile collapse of structures and building in the district has injured civilians and the deluge has laid waste to large portions of farming land besides inundating residential areas and roads, affecting the livelihoood of people.
Dr.C.A.Vasuki, Secretary & Director of Kongunadu Arts and Science College has provided Rs. 50,000 as a flood relief fund to help the affected region return to normalcy. The students of the college have also joined together and have provided Rs.60,000 for the support of the people of Nilgris.
