Rathinam CAS takes value of Green society to students

The Department of Bioscience of Rathinam College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, launched a program titled “Own a Herb” on 19.7.2019 (Friday) at RCAS-Seminar hall.

Dr. Madan A Sendhil, Chairman, Rathinam Group of Institutions in his Presidential Address insisted about the importance of having eco-friendly activities amidst the fast growing tech based society. He highlighted the need for such activities in order to impart research knowledge and social responsibility among students.

In addition, he called for the student initiatives to preserve medicinal herbs and also conduct mini experiments to arrive at a value added product for the benefit of human. He also insisted on bringing up novel ideas on developing this project which would be supported by the ATAL Incubation Center of the institution.

Dr. Sushmitha Baskar, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU),New Delhi,  was the Chief Guest delivered a lecture on the various facets of environmental pollution exposed to humans and ways to avert them.

The lecture was aimed to inculcate in the young minds a sense of eco approach even in the tiniest routine activities we would normally make. The lecture session was followed by the launch of the “Own a Herb”project by the dignitaries in which herbal plants were distributed to students.
