32nd Annual Day Celebrations at Sri Ramakrishna Arts & Science College

Sri Ramakrishna Arts & Science College, celebrated its 32nd Annual Day & Meritorious Award Function in a grand manner.

The event was held in the college auditorium. Mudiarasan Kuppusamy, Chair of Centre of Business Innovation & Digitisation, Asia Pacific University, Kuala Lampur, Malaysia was the Chief Guest. This celebration was presided over by D.Lakshminarayanaswamy, Joint Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust. Also present on the occasion was A.Ebenezer Jeyakumar, Director, Academics, Sri Ramakrishna Educational Institutions.

S.Deena, Vice Principal, SRCAS welcomed the gathering. She highlighted that the theme of this year’s Annual Day – Stars, is due to the fact that the college has produced several illuminating personalities and entrepreneurs of which the attending alumni of the college are a testimony, and it also sees all the final year students leaving the college as shining stars who could transform the society for good. She gave the students one small word of advice: “Study while others are sleeping, Work while others are laughing, prepare while others are playing, dream while others are wishing.”

K.Karunakaran, Principal & Secretary presented the Annual Report. He presented the entire progress, honors and achievements of the college for the academic year 2018-2019. He read the academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the college and proudly stated that through its progresses, the college stands as a model to other colleges in this region.

He highlighted that the college was given top honors as one of the most Scintillating Institutes for Computer Applications by Knowledge Review. The Week magazine rated this college as 45th out of the 17,000 Arts and Science Colleges in India while in the ranking by India Today, the college stands in 64th in Arts, 47th in Science and 69th in Commerce out of the 17,000 Arts & Science colleges in India.

He also stated the college received the Award of Excellence from The Hindu for introducing outstanding innovation in planning and learning programs. Some of the proudest MoUs signed by the colleges include MoU with Google, and the upcoming one with IBM.

The 13 Star Alumni of the College who have achieved all-round success were honored during the event.

Following this the Presidential Address was delivered by the Joint Managing Trustee. He proudly said “Sri Ramakrishna Arts & Science College is continuously serving as one of the beacons of quality education in this part of the country with an incessant quest for excellence coupled with untiring thirst for serving the society helps us in producing a very solid crowd of excellence graduates year in and year out”

He wished the students to never forget that they are the citizens of the world and there are things they can do to uplift the spirit of humanity; to show respect, kindness and gratitude. He said life is like a good story, all it matters is how good it has been and not how long one has lived. He gifted the students the mantra of life-management “be honest when in trouble, be simple when in wealth, be polite when in authority and be silent when in anger”. Before winding up he wanted the students to follow some precepts like admitting themselves when they make a mistake, appreciating someone when they have done a good job, asking for other’s opinion, politely asking for other’s approval, being thankful and never remaining self-centered. “Always be ‘We’ and not I…I…I”.

The Chief Guest then addressed the gathering and emphasized on the importance of receiving recognition and he highlighted the international participation of SRCAS with Asia Pacific University. “We are moving forward and proposing different form of learning engagement with SNR and APU students by enhancing the learning programs with industry-centric coaching where industry people will teach” He also expressed hope in making the student exchange programs  even more excellent in the future.

The dignitaries then gave away the certificates and meritorious awards to the students.
