Nrithyarpanam gives platform to city’s budding Bharatham artists

Bharatnatyam, an exquisite art form has an opulent history. It involves not just the participation of the body but also the mind and beyond. “Nrithyarpanam” an event organised by Shree Natya Niketan recently at the Sitra Auditorium, Coimbatore served as the perfect tribute to the divine art form. The main aim of Nrithyarpanam was to create opportunities for the young budding artists to showcase their talent in Coimbatore.

Nrithyarpanam was split into two segments. The first segment began with a competition between six young artists who have completed their Arangetram coming from cities like Chennai,Banglore and Coimbatore. The participants were judged by two leading exponents of Bharatnatyam: RamaVaidyanathan and Parshwanath Upadhye.

This was followed by mesmerising performances of Rama Vaidyanathanji, (who performed with her daughter Dakshina Vaidyanathan) and Parshwanathji Nrityarpanam was organised with intent to enhance the patronage among the students of Coimbatore.
