SCG turns pink for Breast Cancer Victims

India has a golden opportunity to script history by becoming the first Indian side to win a series “Down Under” while the home side will try every trick available to ensure, the record remains intact. Well that’s something we will have to wait and watch but amidst all this the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) which is hosting the 4th test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between the two sides was turned Pink in support of Breast Cancer victims. For those unaware, on an average about 50 women become victims of the deadly disease each day in Australia and to support them, former Australian speedster Glenn McGrath started his own foundation.

Unfortunately, his own wife Jane McGrath succumbed to the disease in 2008. Hence every year, the SCG turns pink in memory of Lt.Jane McGrath and others battling this disease. Funds raised here will be used to provide care to the families affected as well to support McGrath Breast Care Nurses deployed in communities across Australia through The McGrath Foundation. The Australian team was photographed with their baggy Pink before the start of the 4th test. Indian skipper V.Kohli had his own unique way of supporting the cause as he wore a pink glove, put pink handle and pink MRF sticker when he came out to bat.

The cause has been well supported by Cricket Australia and all the visiting teams since it began 10 years ago.
