Music is a Universal Language

Elephant World in Kanchanaburi, Thailand is an Eco-Conservative Organisation that acts as an elephant retirement home too. A considerable amount of elephants around the world are hurt by humans directly (Poaching and Trophy Hunting) or indirectly (Circus training, wedding and religious use). Some of them are poorly treated by the very people who own them.  At Elephant World, these magnificent animals are given great care and freedom. 30 elephants that stay at this sanctuary are personally treated like children. Recently, musician Paul Burton and his daughter Emily Barton who is 4 years of age visited the place where they played piano to soothe the melancholic hearts of the majestic creatures.

When the 57 year old Paul Burton played his piano, Lam Duan, a blind elephant started to move her head and enjoyed the melody. William Shakespeare once said through his play Twelfth Night, “If music be the food of love, play on”. Lam Duan enjoyed her food while happily listening to the music. The very image of the elephant standing still facing Paul Burton’s piano is so lovely.
