India begins Test campaign with a win

India last won a match at Adelaide Oval in 2003 and from what we have seen so far in the ongoing test against Australia; it looks like history is going to repeat itself. After playing some rash shots during the first innings, India managed just 250 courtesy to C.Pujara(123) who batted the traditional way to ensure that bowlers had something to bowl at. India’s batting woes were well compensated by the bowlers as the Aussies were all out for 235 in their first innings.

Realizing their mistakes, India put up a spirited batting performance in the 2nd innings scoring 307 and victory was now in sight for the visitors. Nathan Lyon was pick of the bowlers claiming six out of ten wickets during India’s second innings. It was now left to the hosts who had a daunting target of 323 to chase down. Thanks to R.Ashwin and M.Shami, the home side couldn’t get off a solid start as they kept losing wickets regularly ending Day 4 at 104/4.

With just six wickets required to win, Indians were in a happy mood when M.Starc and P.Cummins began to frustrate the bowlers going into the final day but their resistance was cut short by pacers. Australia winded its second innings at 291/10 after Ashwin trapped Hazelwood helping India go 1-0 up in the four match test series. The action will now shifts to the new stadium at Perth.
