GRG institutions celebrated Founder’s Day & Chandrakanthi Birth Centenary 

The Founder’s Day and Mother Chandrakanthi Birth Centenary Celebration of GRG Education Institutions were celebrated at PSGR Krishnamal College for Women.

The celebration began in the playground with a march past by 7 platoons from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, PSGR Krishnammal Higher Secondary School for Girls, Chandra Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Chandrakanthi Public School.

This was followed by a Dance Performance by 408 students who danced to a special song composed by KCW faculty portraying the special personality of the Founder Chandrakanthi Amma.

The main programme held at the GRG Centenary Sports Arena. Shri. G. Rangaswamy, Managing Trustee, welcomed the gathering.

Dr. Rajendra Singh, founder of Tarun Bharat Sangh, Rajasthan, was the chief guest of the event and delivered the GRG Memorial Lecture. He also spoke about water security, climate change and how climate change affects the agriculture sector. Also present on the occasion were Sunitha Naren (Director, Center for Science and Environment, New Delhi) and Randhir (Pitu) Chagal, (Founder, Sanctuaries Nature Foundation, Mumbai). Alumni Swarnalatha Ramachandran, Girija and Shobha graced the event with their presence.

Sadhasivam, Director, GRG School of Management Studies presented an overview of the Chandrakanthi Centre for Women Leadership. Yesodha Devi, Secretary, presented an overview of the Centre for Advanced Materials and Sustainable Technologies. Harathi, Vice Principal,l presented a brief note on the GRG Incubator.

Dr. Nandini Rangaswamy, Chairperson, read out the citation for Chandrakanthi Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for Women which was conferred to Sunita Narain and the GRG Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to Mr Randhir (Bittu) Sahgal.

Meena, Principal, read out citations for former students, Swarnalatha Ramachandran, Girija and Shobha, who were recognised as the college’s brand ambassadors. The Managing Trustee Rangasamy felicitated the awardees.

The celebrations concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof Balasubramanian.
