On the 26th of October 2023, the Rotary Club of Coimbatore IKONS marked the Governor’s Official Visit by initiating a “Solid Waste Segregation and Management Project” in Senguttupalayam village.
Vled the event, supported by the first lady Rtn Asha Vijayakumar along with President Rtn Santhi, Secretary Rtn Jayamurali, GGR Rtn Suresh, District Chair, Branding Committee Rtn Mervyn Jussy, Rtn AG Ilango and other senior Rotarians of the club.
The project, costing 26 lakhs, received a significant boost with a 10 lakh contribution from RCC Ikons Club members Rtn Dr Sunder and Rtn Devi.
The DG and Rotarians planted saplings and inspected the project site, followed by the launch of an Interact club at ‘Swami Chidbhavananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School’ in the presence of Youth Service Director Rtn Karthikeyan and the Village Panchayat President Murugavel.
In the evening, the Governor’s Official Visit continued at Taj Vivanta, Coimbatore, along with DD Rtn Gokulraj, AG Rtn Trishala Jain and GGR Rtn Suresh Kumar featuring a club assembly with the board of directors, an interactive session, and a special project announcement.
The event chair Rtn Mala presented a 10,000 rupee cheque for the ‘Namma Telescope’ project for Government School children, accompanied by a video presentation. Additionally, DG inducted a new member, Rtn Sudha, and the club contributed $1000 towards the Polio Fund.
