PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research recently held its Graduation Ceremony at PSG IMS&R Auditorium. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Padma Shri Dr. V.Mohan, Chairman & Director, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Center & Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, Chennai. The function was presided over by L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG & Sons Charities.
The Welcome address was delivered by Dr.S.Ramalingam, Dean, PSG IMS&R where he congratulated all the graduates for their achievement while also sharing how the current bunch of graduates left their broken hearts since they wouldn’t be seen in the campus anymore. He also shared some light moments about the cat and mouse games played during the college days.
The Chief Guest, Dr. V.Mohan in his address congratulated the Managing Trustee of PSG and asked the graduates to do their works with passion because only if you are passionate about something will you excel in the field. In his speech, he praised the parents of all the graduates present whose silent hard work has finally bore fruits while asking students to live up to their (parent’s) expectations. He also stated examples of some great athletes who overcame all odds to show the world that nothing can dampen their spirits ever inspite of hurdles.
Other dignitaries present at the event were Dr.Sudha Ramalingam, Professor, Department of Community Medicine & Registrar-Research, Dr. Denesh Narasimhan, Professor, General Medicine and Thirumurthy KS, Professor, Dept. of Neurosurgery, PSG IMSR &H.
The Graduation Day ceremony saw 150 M.B.B.S. Graduates and 59 Post-Graduates (Super Specialty) of PG Diploma and Degree receiving their course completion certificates along with other awards which included categories like Best Outgoing Graduate, Best Sports person in the men’s and women’s category, Overall Team Championship, Cultural trophy, Best All-rounder Award, PSG Ganga Naidu Memorial Trophy to mention a few.
21 Academic awards were presented to toppers, along with 24 Gold medals, in various subjects in the Tamilnadu DR MGR Medical University Examinations during the Graduation Day Ceremony. The Best All-Rounder Award- GRG Memorial Gold Medal and the Best Outgoing Graduate Award- GV Memorial Gold Medal was won by Akilesh S who was also one of the Graduates in the current year.
