Dr. Shanmugaraj Palaniappa Expresses Gratitude for Perur Adigalar’s Visit to the UK

The renowned spiritual leader, Perur Aadheenam Shanthalinga Maruthachala Adigalar, graced the United Kingdom with his presence during his visit to join the 6th Annual Kongu Convention held in London. The primary aim of his visit was to address the convention and share his wisdom on Saivam (Shaivism) and spirituality. His visit left a lasting impact on the Tamil community living in the UK, inspiring them to embrace their Hindu heritage while residing in a foreign country.

Arriving at London Heathrow airport on June 27, 2023, Perur Adigalar was warmly welcomed by Dr. Shanmugaraj Palaniappa, a prominent figure in the Tamil Nadu doctors’ community in the UK and Ireland. Dr. Palaniappa hosted a traditional Kovai-style dinner to honor the esteemed spiritual leader and sought his blessings.

During his stay, Perur Adigalar visited several Hindu temples in London on June 28 and 29. These visits not only provided an opportunity for the spiritual leader to bless the Tamil community but also allowed him to deliver enlightening lectures on Saivam and spirituality. The attendees were captivated by his teachings, which emphasized the importance of practicing Hinduism regardless of geographical boundaries.

The much-anticipated 6th Annual Kongu Convention took place on July 1, 2023, at the Effingham Hotel in South London. Perur Adigalar, accompanied by Kaumara Adigalar, blessed the approximately 100 families from the Kongu Peravai who had gathered for the convention, including children. The convention offered a day of celebration and learning for the attendees. The children, in particular, relished the occasion, as it was a rare annual event for them.

Later that evening, a special virtual meeting was organized, focusing on the topic of “How to Live Like Hindus in a Foreign Country.” Dr. Shanmugaraj Palaniappa, serving as the President of the Tamil Nadu Doctors in the UK & Ireland, introduced both Swamijis to various Tamil community organizations, including the Sangamam, Tamil Nadu Doctors UK & Ireland, and Kongu Peravai members. Kaumara Adigalar set the stage with an introductory talk, and Perur Adigalar delivered his insightful advice to the audience.

The highlight of the discourse was the notion that people living in foreign countries should not consider themselves foreigners, as the world has become interconnected. Perur Adigalar cited examples of Siva Lingams found in various parts of the world, including Colorado, USA, Australia, and Cambodia, illustrating that Hindu practices and beliefs can be embraced globally. He emphasized the significance of daily worship at home, even with simple offerings like flowers or green leaves. Perur Adigalar also encouraged the Tamil community in London to visit the numerous Hindu temples in the city at least once a month and guide their children to cultivate a habit of regular prayer at home.

After leaving London on July 2, Perur Adigalar continued his journey to the United States, where he intends to meet Tamil communities and visit Hindu temples until July 16 before returning to Kovai.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Shanmugaraj Palaniappa thanked the Kongu Convention Organizing Committee for their tireless efforts in making the event a resounding success. The visit of Perur Aadheenam Shanthalinga Maruthachala Adigalar will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the Tamil community in the UK, strengthening their connection to their Hindu roots and inspiring them to live a spiritually enriched life in a foreign land.
