TNAU Secures 5th Position in National Agriculture Rankings 2023

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has secured an impressive fifth position in the national rankings among 152 institutions in the Agriculture and allied sectors category. The university also stands second among State Agricultural Universities in India and has achieved the 93rd rank out of 2478 institutions representing both public and privately funded universities. TNAU’s notable performance places it at the 72nd position out of 1073 universities that participated in the rankings.

Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor of TNAU, credited the university’s success to its commitment to teaching, research, outreach, agribusiness, and open and distance learning activities at regional, national, and international levels. TNAU has witnessed a significant increase in applications for admission, reaching 40,000, and has implemented learner-centric education modules based on Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technology.

The university has also excelled in research, with 483 externally funded projects and achievements in technology commercialization. TNAU supports startups and innovation through Agribusiness incubation forums and offers an Entrepreneur Development Program (EDP) on Agriculture Export. The university has forged collaborations with national and international institutions through more than 85 Memorandums of Understanding.

Geethalakshmi praised the faculty, staff, and students for their outstanding performance and encouraged them to strive for the top position in the future. TNAU’s accomplishments have garnered recognition, including the ICAR-Sardar Vallababhai Patel Outstanding Institution Award and the 8th FICCI Higher Education Excellence – University of the Year Award 2022.
