The Coimbatore Corporation is in talks with a new bicycle sharing service provider. The corporation and the company are in the midst of negotiation and will soon settle over which part of the city the project would focus on and the number of cycles that will be deployed for the city folks. The city was previously served by Ofo – a China based bicycle sharing company for a brief duration of 6 months. The company quit its operation in India as well as in Australia and Israel citing its operation in the country as an experimental project. Sources in the civic body mentioned ‘hoarding’ was the biggest challenge for the company.
The experience the corporation gained from the previous project might make this new venture overcome the obstacles that are ahead. This time, the corporation wishes to select a different neighborhood as the project’s operating area.
