Minister kicked-off 114 crores INR worth projects for Coimbatore

S.P. Velumani, Municipal Administration Minister, Tamil Nadu launched 6 projects for Coimbatore worth Rs. 114 crores. From restoring Periyakulam Lake and Valakulam Lake to building a public walkway along the adjacent road to the lake and a model road in R.S.Puram, all these projects are commissioned to be concluded in 18 months. R.S. Puram will see more trees and more street furniture for pedestrians.

Tamil Nadu became No.1 Tourist Destination in India

The Central Ministry of Tourism announced that Tamil Nadu stood first in the country as the most popular tourist destination.  Vellamandi Natarajan, Minister of Tourism, Tamil Nadu joyfully exhibited the letter of appreciation he received from the Central Ministry of Tourism to our CM at the Chief Secretariat.

Deposits in Swiss banks dropped 80%

According to interim Finance Minister, Piyush Goyal, money deposited by Indians in Swiss banks fell by 34.5% in 2017 and the level of deposits fell by 80% since Narendra Modi took the helm as PM in 2014. The minister cited data from the Swiss National Bank while addressing the parliament regarding this issue.

Highest taxpayer of Telangana was a salaried woman!

A woman in Telagana paid Rs.9 crores as income tax and her annual income is Rs.30 Crores. What is more shocking is that she is a salaried woman working as a techie in Hyderabad. Her identity has not been revealed yet.

Facebook lost 100 billions of dollars in a single day

Social-Media giant Facebook lost 120 Billion USD on 26.7.2018 as 3 miilion Europeans quit Facebook over privacy issue after reports claimed Cambridge Analytica hacked and used FB users’ data last year. FB founder Mark Zuckerberg who has 16% shares in the company lost 16 billion USD.

3rd death anniversary of the Missile Man of India

Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s 3rd death anniversary was on July 27. Fondly called as the People’s President, Dr. Kalam was an inspiration to everyone. He loved children, motivated the youth and took our nation to great heights with his contribution chiefly in defense. He died on July 27, 2015 in Shillong while delivering a lecture in a college.

Mishap in Maharashtra: 33 dead

33 passengers belonging to Dr.Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, an agricultural university situated in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra were killed in an accident that occurred on Saturday, 28.07.2018. The bus was on its way to Mahabaleshwar for an excursion. The driver lost control while the bus was travelling on Ambenali mountain road in Raigad district at 11.30. a.m. and fell into the valley, instantly killing 33 of the 34 passengers.

Wildfire in Greece claimed 87 lives

The wildfire that began on July 23 in a village named Mati in Greece spread due to heavy winds that blew at 120kmph. The fire consumed 87 lives and wounded as many as 200 people. Many residents evaded the region. Even after 5 days since the event, its traces were still found in the country. Survivors of the Greece wildfire tragedy paid last respects to the victims on Saturday. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras accepted the responsibility for this tragedy on Friday.

This century’s longest lunar eclipse occurred on July 28. The spectacle was witnessed by a majority of the world. But since the eclipse occurred at midnight in India, a small no. of sky gazers could have missed it. India will witness an eclipse of this magnitude only September 2025! Though there is a lunar eclipse occurring on Jan 2019, it won’t be visible in India.

Lewis Hamilton stormed through German Grand Prix

Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton claimed the top spot in the German Grand Prix, while rival Sebastian Vettel crashed. His team mate Viktor Bottas came second, making Team Mercedes stand tall over rivals Ferrari and Red Bull. Hamilton will test the tarmac once again for the Hungary Grand Prix  this Sunday
