May 10th holds historical importance for India. It was on this day ‘The Great Sepoy Mutiny’ otherwise known as “The Indian Rebellion of 1857”. Interestingly it was also the first revolt ever against the British by Indians who wanted to have a taste Freedom.
The mutiny saw the participation of one of the important personalities Rani Lakshmi Bhai and the end of Mughal era.
However the mutiny had an unsuccessful end the following year yet not before it laid seeds for further riots seeking independence.
History books recall the revolt popularly as the “First war of Indian Independence.
