HICAS, SKAL-Cbe & Corp. clean-up iconic attraction spot in Covai

The students belonging to HICAS – Hindusthan College of Arts Science’s of Catering and Hotel Management joined hands with Department Of Tourism – Government of Tamil Nadu, Municipal Corporation of Coimbatore, SKAL International Coimbatore to clean up one of the famous Tourists Attractions ‘I LOVE KOVAI’ at Ukkadam town on Monday.

This activity was done in connection with World Tourism Day, which falls on September 27th.  This day is celebrated to foster awareness among the international community on the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, jobs and economic value. This year World Tourism Day comes under the theme “Tourism for Inclusive Growth “with the support of United Nations.

The campaign event was inaugurated by Raja Gopal Sunkara IAS – Corporation Commissioner of Coimbatore, Sarasuwathi Khannaiyan, Managing Trustee & Secretary, Hindusthan Educational & Charitable Trust, Charles Fabian, President of Skal International Coimbatore,  A.Ponnusamy, Principal, Hindusthan College of Arts &Science, Coimbatore.

The whole event was guided by P.Premkanna, Head, Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management of Hindusthan College of Arts & Science & supervised by the Assistant Professors of the department.

According to a press release from SKAL, Coimbatore, apart from these cleaning activities, a series of events were held on the same day, including Blood Donation Camp, Travel magazine, cooking videos, Itinerary making videos, A joy trip for orphan old age people, Tree planting, Photography exhibition, Village service project etc.

Photos of Coimbatore city; old and new were showcased to highlight the beauty of Kovai to the citizens. It was exhibited at Coimbatore International Airport, and the Airport’s Director Senthil Valavan took part in this program.
