Tamil Nadu Governor laid foundation stone for KMCH Medical College

Kovai Medical Center and Hospital Limited (KMCH), a 900 bed multi-disciplinary advanced super specialty hospital here today (20.03.2018) announced about the establishment of KMCH Institute of Health Sciences and Research (KMCHIHSR).

Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Tamil Nadu, laid the foundation stone for the KMCH Institute of Health Sciences And Research at a function organized at KMCH.

While laying the foundation stone, the Governor said that India has less than one doctor for every 1000 population which is less than the World Health Organization (WHO) standard that prescribes a doctor population ratio of 1:1,000.

‘India is facing a gigantic task of producing over 2.07 million medical doctors in the next 12 years, the establishment of the new medical colleges like KMCH would increase the availability of health professionals in the country,’ said the Governor.

‘The country would need at least 600 more medical colleges to come up quickly to meet the additional demand for doctors in the next 10 to 12 years,’ he added.

‘Understanding and responding to the need for rapid expansion of medical infrastructure and human resource in the country and to cater to the growing demand, KMCH is trying to contribute in producing competent medical professionals and bring excellence in the field of medical education by setting up this new medical college,’ said Dr.Nalla G Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH.

‘Pursuing its mission of providing world class patient care, education and training, KMCH is spreading out its wings to start a new medical college KMCH Institute of Health Sciences And Research (KMCHIHSR) with the aim of developing highly trained, skilled and competent and compassionate medical professionals by creating an environment that provides excellent learning environments with infrastructure and facilities that support student learning and overall growth to become outstanding medical professionals,’ he added.
