Saravanampatty’s green cover to get increased, substantially

Known to be an established IT area in Coimbatore, Saravanampatty is a place with too many concrete structures with too little green cover to balance them.

But that may not be the case in future as the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, Pricol and acclaimed NGO Siruthuli are engaged in planting saplings at one of the corporation reserve sites of Emerald City Park, VKV Kumaraguru Nagar, Saravanampatty.

599 saplings were planted at this venue recently and it was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Raja Gopal Sunkara, Commissioner, Coimbatore City Corporation. Pricol and Siruthuli took up this initiative with the support of the CCMC to plant trees in the reserve sites at Saravanampatty.

A press-release conveyed that the uniqueness of this project is that a large number of Panai saplings are being planted all along the perimeter of the parcel of land with a layered plantation of various native trees in a Miyawaki pattern that would soon form a mini forest.

Expressing her happiness on the occasion Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee – Siruthuli, remarked that she is thankful to the CCMC for permitting to carry out plantation projects in these reserve sites. It was also it was very heartening to watch small children from the nearby areas actively participate in planting trees which they promised to nurture till they grow up into big trees filled with life.

The Press Release also mentioned that Ravichandran, the TPO of CCMC was also in attendance for the event, without whom this would not have been possible.
