Chandrans Yuva trains 25 rural women to be skilled & self-reliant

Chandrans Yuva Foundation aided FICCI Flo in its objective to empower 25 rural women in and around Coimbatore through a unique skilling initiative.

Chairperson of FICCI Flo Coimbatore Preethika Balaji briefed that Chandrans Yuva Foundation helped them to choose 25 women and give them soft skill training, and also provide training in Spoken-English and Smart-Phone application usage, all to promote them as women operators in the last mile delivery sector.

Chandrans Yuva took strenuous efforts even during the pandemic period to identify the right candidates to receive all these trainings and groomed them to become Last-Mile Delivery Operators.

With the country turning to online mode for delivery of food, consumer products and commercial goods, the scope is high for women to become last-mile delivery operators. The trainings, put together, will indeed help them find employment, be financially independent and self-reliant.

Chandrans Yuva Foundation also ensured that the chosen women receive training to drive two-wheelers, and also made them eligible to apply and receive LLR and Driving License.

Lotus TVS, Coimbatore on the other hand spoke with K.N. Radhakrishnan, Director and CEO of TVS Motor Company and with the Area Manager and Territory Manager of the company for providing further support.  After consent, Lotus TVS took efforts to arrange loans for the women to get the scooter that they would require, and also arranged for a certain percentage of discounts.

The valediction of this initiative was held on Saturday, and the 25 women received their TVS Scooty or the vehicle they had chosen. Preethika Balaji, Chairperson, FLO Coimbatore, Shashikala Sathyamurthy, Chairperson, Chandrans Yuva Foundation, Uma Sekar- Managing Director, Avaneetha Textiles Pvt Ltd, Devika Ramesh, Vertical Head, FICCI Flo jointly handed over the vehicles to the women.
