PM remembers Arun Jaitley on 1st death anniversary

“On this day, last year, we lost Shri Arun Jaitley Ji. I miss my friend a lot. Arun Ji diligently served India. His wit, intellect, legal acumen and warm personality were legendary,” tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning while recollecting Arun Jaitley on the late Finance Minister’s 1st death anniversary.

Arun Jaitley served the country as the Finance Minister and remained one of BJP’s strongmen whom Modi thoroughly relied upon. Jaitley was admitted to Delhi AIIMS Hospital on August 9, 2019 after he suffered breathlessness and restlessness. He was kept under observation in the hospital’s Cardio-Neuro center and was treated by a multi-disciplinary team of senior doctors. He passed away on Aug 24, 2019 at the age of 66.

“With the demise of Arun Jaitley Ji, I have lost a valued friend, whom I have had the honour of knowing for decades,” “His insight on issues and nuanced understanding of matters had very few parallels,” the PM said when he learnt about his death.
