Since the announcement of lockdown due to COVID-19 threat, educational institutions across the country have come up with lot of unique solutions to bridge the gap caused in students’ academics.
We have heard many institutions conduct online classes through available technology like Google Classroom, Zoom Video Conferencing Platform etc. Rathinam Group of Institutions uses Microsoft Teams for the conduct of online classes. Students log-in using E-Mail ID provided by the colleges, meet teachers virtually and resume their academics.Going one step beyond that Rathinam Group of Institutions has deployed an innovative method for conducting Exams as well. Model Exams have been held using this method which Rathinam calls ERP system. Rathinam’s ERP App called ‘My CAMU’ is used by the students through the same email ID they used for learning.
The Model exam was structured in Open book Model with both Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and Descriptive Type questions. To avoid malpractice, each MCQ question was allotted only 30 seconds and for descriptive type also each question was allotted a specific time to answer. The Rathinam ERP software enabled setting specific time limits for each question. Rathinam conducted the exams successfully and 97% of the students attended the online model exams and it enormously benefitted them.
Rathinam has thus pioneered the implementation of new online teaching & learning and conduct of online examinations during this disruptive situation of COVID-19 outbreak.
