10th Graduation day at Kongunadu College

The 10th Graduation Day of Kongunadu Arts & Science College (Autonomous) was held today (19.8.17) at Dr.Marappa G.Aruchami Auditorium in the college premises. Dr.C.A.Vasuki, Secretary& Director, Kongunadu Arts & Science College, presided over the function. Prof.Dr.A.Ganapathi, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University was the Chief Guest and delivered the Graduation Day Address.   236 PG and 892 UG received their degrees on this occasion.

The Graduation Day began at 10 a.m. with the traditional procession of academic dignitaries. This was followed by the Invocation.

Dr.C.A.Vasuki, Secretary and Director, welcomed the gathering. In her Welcome Address, Dr.C.A.Vasuki emphasised the significance of this year’s Graduation Day, since the students would be receiving their degrees from a College of Excellence. This noble institution which has been rendering phenomenal service in the field of education has seen enormous growth and magnificent progress. Congratulating the new graduates, the Secretary said that personal and professional success depended upon the way one thinks, acts and what you believe in.

“Be guided by the higher values in you,” she advised, quoting William Burroughs. “Never ever forget the less fortunate, “The greatest satisfaction lies in giving back something to society” she added. Swami Vivekananda had envisioned an India in which youth would work together like lions towards this end. She appealed to the graduates to help realise the expectations of Swami Vivekananda and the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi who wants to build a clean, poverty-free, corruption free, terrorism free, caste and communalism free New India by 2022. With the skills, knowledge and moral values you have acquired at Kongunadu Arts and Science College, you are fully equipped to create a New India.”The Secretary extended her congratulations to the new graduates and wished them all success. She then formally declared open the Graduation Day.

Dr.V.Balasubramaniam, Principal i/c then presented the report of the activities of the college which had progressed to the status of College of Excellence given by the UGC, attaining 3rd rank with regard to research and 19th in the MHRD ranking.

The Chief Guest, Prof.Dr.A.Ganapathi, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University, in his Graduation Day address congratulated the graduates for their remarkable achievement and appreciated the management for their continued pursuance of excellence in academics. He counselled the graduates that they should not think that their education has ended with this degree alone, for education means the realisation of the responsibilities one has towards the society and country. In a century where skills and knowledge are considered the driving force of economic growth, one shouldn’t forget that the quality of education is the superior scale that decides the nation’s progress. With education being our empowerment, he affirmed that by 2020, India, with the largest tertiary age population endowed with skilled and competent youngsters will outshines everyone in all streams of knowledge.
