Rathinavani tells why it’s important to educate Girl Children

Out of a total of 250 Community radio stations spread across India, UNICEF and CRS chose 60 stations to take part in a program aimed at spreading awareness about the Importance of Girl Child Education and Eradication of Child Marriage.

Rathinavani 90.8 CR is the only radio station selected from our city of Coimbatore. The program goes by the name of Bachpan Express in the Hindi native states and cities, and as Chutties Express in Tamil Nadu. Rathinavani 90.8 Community Radio, owned and operated by Rathinam Group of Institutions, launched the Chutties Express initiative through its podcast channel on the online audio platform ‘Anchor- FM’

The launch was carried out by P.R. Natarajan, MP Coimbatore at his office. The first episode was broadcasted on November 17th, Different themes will be covered in the time period. Rathinavani is also carrying out public interactions through which it is trying to find solutions for issues relating to girl child education.

In one of the interactions recorded for the first episode of the program happened in the settlement of Mullangadu, Pattiyar Kovil Pathi in the Thondamuthur Village. It was found out that girl children in the locality were attending school with the help of an NGO’s transport facility. They also expect amenities like a public library, everyday newspaper distribution, career guidance cells, etc.With help from Rathinam institution’s Edu-Drama program and additional support from the government machinery, Rathinavani hopes to bring about more change in such rural areas.
