Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College Celebrates 25th Annual Day

Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore celebrated its 25th College Annual Day in a grad manner recently. The event was held in the College auditorium. Gowri Kailasam, President, Rane (Madras) Limited, Chennai was the Chief Guest. R. Vijayakumhar, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust presided over the function. D.Lakshminarayanaswamy, Joint Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable trust and trust members also graced the occasion.

P. Karuppuswamy, Vice Principal,SREC welcomed the gathering.

N.R Alamelu, Principal, SREC addressed the gathering. She said the evolution of the college has witnessed a strong blend of state of the art infrastructure, experienced and dedicated teachers and a dynamic leadership through the management all amalgamated to provide high quality technical education.

She then highlighted the college’s achievements in the Annual Report of the academic year.

R.Vijayakumhar, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust in his Presidential Address, stated that this college has placed itself as a beacon of quality technical education. He recalled the genesis of the college and mentioned that its journey has not been an easier one. “We had our own share of trials and tribulations but we overcame with that through the co-operation of our stakeholders; the heads of institution, the staff and the students”, he said.

This was followed by the Chief Guest Address.  “Not everyone would get an opportunity such as this to be remembered at such an important occasion of this college and I feel immensely happy to be here” Gowri Kailasam began her address expressing her joy in taking part in the event.

Being a Coimbatorean, she recalled her memories, mostly of her time at Coimbatore Institute of Technology and all the others flew in a flash. She said that post-independence India was a nation that was trying to prove to the rest of the world that it was a developing nation and today India has grown in great many fields.

She said today’s youth are very skillful and knowledgeable especially with their internet but she cautioned them that internet alone is not that could give them wholesome education; “You are in college because colleges give you the atmosphere to get social skills too”.

She advised them to have more interaction with the people rather than have mere internet communication which is quick and lacks that personal connection. She spoke about the disruptions that are prevalent everywhere. According to her disruptions and viciousness could be changed only with interactions with fellow human beings.

She advised the youngsters who live in a competitive world to compete healthily and not allow their competitions to break their composure.

She then urged the students to constantly up-skill themselves with modern technology, have a clear vision for the betterment of society and be adaptable to the changing trends of the world.  Your vision should not be only aimed at making you prosper but making others to rise with you too. Before concluding she motivated the women folk to become more determined and dedicated to serve the society in a better way.

The college magazine ‘Pinnacle 2019’ was released during the occasion.  Various awards were given to the meritorious students both in academics and fine arts.

Prof.P.R.Ramaswamy Naidu Memorial Gold Medal of One Sovereign and Dr.R.Subbaiyan Rolling Trophy for the Best Outgoing Boy Student Award was received by T.Senthil Kumar from the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.

Smt.Sheila Memorial Gold Medal of One Sovereign for the Best Outgoing Girl Student Award was received by T.Keerthana of Bio Medical Engineering.
