In order to promote the Importance of Voting and Voting Rights, Rathinam College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore organized two essential awareness programs recently.
The first initiative towards the objective was a rally by the NSS Students the college. They took a walk from the College Campus to the nearby Industrial Area -SIDCO. The rally was flagged off by Palaniswamy, Thasildar of Madukarai along With Manickam, CEO, Rathinam Group of Institutions.
Palaniswamy, in his address to the gathering explained about the importance of voting and why one should not sell his/her vote for money. The students who participated in the rally distributed pamphlets which contain details about Election commission of India’s Toll free number 1950 and details of C- VIGIL -a user-friendly and easy to operate the android application, which can be used for reporting violations from the date of notifications for bye-election/ assembly/ parliamentary elections.
Further awareness was spread through Rathinavani 90.8 Community RadioStation of the Rathinam Group of Educational Institutions which through its association with SMART and Election Commission of India broadcasted Awareness Programs Regarding Elections about Registration for the First Time Voters.
