Travelling on Train 18 -Meals compulsory

While premium trains like Duronto Express, Shatabdi Express and Rajdhani Express have an option where passengers can opt-out of meals on-board, the soon to be launched Vande Bharat Express or Train 18 between Delhi and Varanasi does not give an option to passengers to skip meals supplied on-board. But there is an exception for passengers travelling from Allahabad – Varanasi & Varanasi – Allahabad who can opt-out of meals onboard while booking their train tickets. Such passengers will get a separate receipt from the IRCTC.

Passengers will be provided Morning tea, Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Tea, Snacks and Dinner. The train will start its maiden journey on February 15th, 2019.Vande Bharat Express will eventually replace Shatabdi Express and it takes just eight hours to cover a distance of 755 Kms between New Delhi and Varanasi. The current fastest train takes about 11and-a-half -hours to cover the journey. As per sources, there are two classes in Train 18- Executive and Chair car. Prices of the meals will differ depending upon which class a passenger opts for.
