Residents of Baghyalakshmipuram unite against cell-phone tower construction

The residents from the village of Baghyalakshmipuram, Coimbatore approached the District Collector requesting his help to stop the concerned people from constructing a cell-phone tower in their locality. Nearly 200 houses are in Baghyalakshmipuram housing around 1000 people. The people are worried when they came to know that the plans to build a cell-phone tower in the private land opposite to the village’s community hall has been initiated .

The people have put forth their request that they are not against the installation of cell-phone tower but they say they don’t want it to be installed in the location the private company prefers as that chosen area is a place where many families with children and senior-citizens live in great number. The proximity between the tower and residents would be very close and the people fear that it could greatly affect them especially the children, women and senior citizens. In spite of representing their worries, the private companies have paid no heed. Hence they have approached the collector for his help.
