The State Highways Department has decided to construct two downward ramps following the demands for ramps from the first level of Gandhipuram flyover. Nanjappa road users which is the first level of the flyover will have access to downward ramps to reach 100 feet and Bharathiar road. Though there were plans to construct three ramps, a detailed study showed only two as possible.
While the one on 100 feet is set to be used for vehicles going from Nanjappa road, the second one near Town bus stand will be used by vehicles coming from Ganapathy. Once the design and cost is finalized, it will be sent to the respective departments for approval.
The Department has also started extension works on the second level of the flyover which will now go upto Avarampalayam junction. At Ukkadam, the department is preparing to extend the flyover up till Palakkad Main Road.
