KMCH Nursing College’s Workshop on HIV/AIDS

The Red Ribbon Club of KMCH College of Nursing recently organized a 3-day workshop on HIV/AIDS and ART. Prof. Dr. Madhavi, Principal of KMCH College of Nursing, inaugurated the program with a presidential address. Dr. Sundaresan, senior medical officer at ART Center, Government Medical College Hospital, Coimbatore, delivered the chief guest address and presented a session on the NACP guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of HIV, emphasizing the nurses’ role.

Mathi, the ART counselor at CMC Coimbatore, enlightened the students about the significance and role of peer education. Maheswari, a person living with HIV and a member of HIV Nalla Ullar Sangam, Coimbatore, shared her life-transforming experience with ART and positive lifestyle practices.

On Day 2 Gopalakrishnan, District Program Officer at District AIDS Program Control, Coimbatore, engaged the students in a discussion on celebrating life skills.

Day 3 involved a field visit for student nurses to the ART Centre and ICTC Coimbatore, Medical College Hospital, Coimbatore. A total of 115 students actively participated in this informative and impactful program.
