Kidathon 2023 Unites Kids Against Juvenile Diabetes Surge

Rotary E-Club of Metro Dynamix and Idhayangal Charitable Trust recently organized ‘Kidathon 2023’, at Race Course, Coimbatore, to to sensitize society about the alarming rise of Type 1 Diabetes in Indian children under 14. With 15,000 new cases reported annually, the walkathon aimed to raise awareness about this auto-immune condition.

District Collector Kranti Kumar Pati inaugurated the event, attended by City Commissioner of Police V. Balakrishnan. Over 700 kids under the age of 15 participated, walking around the Race Course, and contributing to the campaign against Juvenile Diabetes. This initiative is part of the Rotary E-Club of Metro Dynamix’s marquee project ‘Combat Juvenile Diabetes’, led by Rtn. Reshma Ramesh, in collaboration with the Endocrinologist Dr. Krishnan Swaminathan’s Idhayangal Charitable Trust.

The Club and the Trust, through projects like ‘ChillFix’ and ‘Abhaya,’ have donated types of equipment like mini refrigerators to store insulin and painless needles, worth almost Rs 1 Crore, making a significant impact on the lives of young heroes battling Juvenile Diabetes.
