The merger between Vodafone India and Idea Cellular limited is in its final stage as the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) gave final approval for this merger on 26.07.2018, Thursday. With the entry of Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio into the market, several operators have faced trouble. Airtel Bharthi found it hard to fight the new entrant whilst other service providers struggled. The merger named Vodafone Idea will bring together 438 million subscribers in its operation and will certainly be a challenge for its opponents. The final formalities are expected to conclude in August. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group, will serve as the non-executive Chairman while Balesh Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of Vodafone India will serve as the CEO of Vodafone India.
