One of Tamil Nadu’s reputed Bariatric Surgeon Dr.Praveen Raj of Gem Hospital has been unanimously selected as the President of the Obesity Surgery Society of India (OSSI).
A press release stated that with over 700 surgeons as members, OSSI is the primary body for surgeons practising bariatric (obesity) surgery as a speciality.
Dr.Praveen Raj is the first surgeon from South India to take this prestigious position. He’ll continue to hold office for two years, from 2022-24.
Dr.Praveen Raj heads the Bariatric Surgery Department at Gem Hospital Coimbatore. Considered a pioneer in this field, he has trained more than 250 surgeons from India and Asia Pacific. He also established the OSSI Virtual Academy for training surgeons.
