TNAU’s 1973-77/78 batch donate Rs. 10 lakhs as Educational aid

The Alumni of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University belonging to 1973-77/78 got together at the college campus recently and donated Rs.10 lakh towards the fellowships to the undergraduate students.

Around 60 members of B.Sc., (Agri.), Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering visited the class rooms, laboratory and their practical fields at different agro ecosystems and reminisced their college moments along with their family members.  They also donated 17 solar lamps to illuminate the TNAU Campus.

A press release conveyed that the donated amount will be deposited to the TNAU Alumni Association so as to give financial assistance to four fresh UG students for four years from the interest received from the deposited amount.

Earlier, three distinguished alumni of TNAU, R. Jagannathan, Vice Chancellor, Periyar University, Salem, Dr.S.Thangavelu, Chairman. Sri Sakthi Institue of Engineering and Technology, a lifetime achievement award winner and N.Nachiappan, a light-bringing Good Samaritan who has provided free solar lamps facilities to 40 villages in South Tamil Nadu and TNAU campus were felicitated.

Later, a cheque for Rs.10 lakhs was handed over to N.Kumar, Vice Chancellor, TNAU during the function and he ceremonially switched on the solar lamps that were donated to the campus by S.Thangavelu.
