Situation at border is stable and controllable – China

For nearly a month, tension between India and China border region in the Line of Actual Control – Eastern Ladakh was on the rise. But on Wednesday, during a media-briefing, China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that situation at the India-China border is now stable and controllable, and both nation have proper full-fledged border related mechanism and communication channel.

Last week, US Government notified both India and China that it is ready to mediate and solve the dispute that is between the two Asian powerhouses. US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to each other on Tuesday through phone for almost 25 mins, in which the border related issue was also discussed.

When a question about this was asked, Zhao Lijian said that there is no need for any 3rd party intervention in this border issue and both nations can sort their difference through dialogue. India and China have earnestly implemented the consensus reached between their leaders, Zhao said.

“We have strictly abided by the relevant treaty between China and India, and are committed to uphold the national, territorial sovereignty and security as well as uphold the peace and stability in the borders”, Zhao added.
