India is fighting COVID-19 better than other countries – PM Modi

National Lockdown extended till May 3

Prime Minister Modi addressed the nation about Covid-19 situation in India.  He said that India is doing well to tackle the coronavirus. He thanked people on the Frontline of the Covid19 battle.

He acknowledged the trouble faced by people. Referring to the the festivals that had and has fallen on these times, he said people are obeying the curfew and are celebrating the festivals with simplicity.

Compared with other countries India is able to curb covid 19 spread much better “Before cases reached 100, foreign travellers were surveilled. When India had 550 cases, it has started a 21 day Lockdown”, he said. Comparing with other nations is not appropriate but some truths cannot be ignored.

Social distancing has paid off well he added and he thanked Chief Ministers for their timely efforts. Discussion about winning Coronavirus with limited troubles and economic impact has been discussed.

He made the announcement that Lockdown is extended till May 3 to curb coronavirus at every level. Hotspots for the infection needs close monitoring. Strict action will be taken till April 20 to control Covid-19 spread. Some areas have been given relaxations under conditions. If people are found to break it, then the relaxations will be taken away.

He said health infrastructure has improved. Labs have come up, bed count has risen. More than 600 hospitals are working for Covid-19 treatment. Till the end of the lockdown , he advised  his fellow Indians to stay home and be safe.
