Updates in ‘Neuro Criticare’ discussed at KMCH

For the last 15 years, KMCH regularly conducts medical update conferences. These updates are beneficial to the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff not only from Tamil Nadu but also from the neighboring states. The 13th   ICU Update 2020 –was held on 25th & 26th January 2020 at KMCH. The update focused on the latest advances and changes in intensive care.

This year’s focus fell on Update in Neuro Criticare. Certain diseases and accidents cause severe and life-threatening damage to the brain and nervous system. As a result the body organs too suffer major setbacks. Treatment given in the first few hours called Golden Hour plays an important role in successful outcome. The Golden Hour treatment should be done without delay and properly so as to ensure that the patients regain the control of their brain and nervous system.

During the first day of the conference, a workshop was conducted with the focus on ECS, brain pressure, brain scan, oxygen supply to brain and blood circulation. Skill enhancement training was also conducted. The dignitaries who participated in this conference include Dr. Ram Rajagopalan, Former President, Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine and HOD, Department of Critical care Medicine, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research, Chennai, Dr. Pradeep Rangappa, HOD, Department of Critical care Medicine, Columbia Asia Hospital, Bangalore and Dr. Harsh Sapra, President – Society of Neurocritical Care, India.
