Failures should be Embraced- D.Sneha, IAS

KPR IAS Academy and The Hindu in association with Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science for Women organized a program called Future India Club. The event saw K.Chitra, Principal -SRCASW sharing the dais alongside K.P.D. Sigamani, MD- KPR IAS Academy, M.Jegadesh Kumar, GM -The Hindu. The Chief Guest on the occasion was D.Sneha, IAS –Asst.Collector (Training), Coimbatore. The event was held at Sri Ramakrishna college of Arts & Science for Women.

The Presidential Address was delivered by K.Chitra in which she mentioned how civil services were more of a male dominated job. During her speech, she reminisced the struggles faced by two female Civil Service aspirants who were considered incompetent in the male dominant sector. During early years, for every 20 male officers there was only one female officer but situations have improved now.

The Chief Guest addressing the gathering gave an insight about how she had struggled initially while trying to clear the civil service exams. She said, “While doing my internship during the 2nd and 3rd year of engineering, I used to work but come back home completely drained. Soon, I realized that engineering wasn’t my cup of tea. I wanted to do something that I would enjoy doing and hence I informed my parents about my aspiration for civil service”. She said, “Failures should be embraced and perseverance is the key to Success”. Enjoy whatever you do and things will fall in place. She also took questions from students on how to crack Civil Services exams.

K.P.D. Sigamani in his address said, “Coimbatore has lots of engineering industries and colleges but no IAS Training Academy during the early days. After finishing the degree, we either went for higher education, employment or business. Many students are scared of writing IAS exams, there is no proper guidance on what IAS is and whether it is possible to clear it or not. We should have involvement and dedication to clear civil service exams. During the early days, an individual had to visit Bengaluru, Mumbai or Chennai to prepare for civil services exams and that is when I decided to start an IAS Academy within Coimbatore”.

The Vote of thanks was proposed by Monika Swathi.T, Chairperson, SRCW- College Union.
