Huawei poses a huge security and privacy threat – US

Huawei is the largest telecommunications-equipment manufacturer in the world. It has signed more than 20 5G contracts with service providers around the world. It is also a world-leader in smartphones. Its equipment is used by a majority of service providers around the world. Now it is offering 5G equipment to the companies that wish to obtain the technology.

In a time like this, US government has requested its allies to not use Huawei’s service. It has contacted its close aides in power, asking them to persuade the companies in their nation to avoid Huawei at all costs. US states that Huawei and Chinese government have close ties.

The company has been banned in Australia to sell 5G equipment, came under heavier observation in the UK and recently New Zealand’s Government Communications Security Bureau has asked its service providers to shut doors to Huawei’s 5G plans.

In its defense, Huawei said customers around the world chose the brand because they trust it. It further stressed that it has no ties with the Chinese Government, nor does it trade the data of its users.

It must be noted that as of late, Chinese phones have become the major players in the smartphone world too. Huawei Honor, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo and MI phones are all from China. Thinking that Chinese products could harm a nation’s security and asking others to do the same will be seen as paranoia by positive people. US need to prove its allegation.
