Coimbatore sees Indian National Autocross Championship qualifying Round through CASC

Coimbatore Auto Sports Club (CASC) organized The Autocross of Coimbatore 2018 – a southern qualifying round of 2018 FMSCI Indian National Autocross Championship. It was held as a two day event in Radhakrishna Mills Premises, Coimbatore, recently.

Being a pioneer in this field, CASC held the event in a well-organised way. On the first day of the event, the cars were scrutinized for their compliance and competency. The drivers were also asked to produce their valid FMSCI license. Only after thoroughly going through all the details, the drivers were allowed to race. On the second day, the qualifying and finals were held. All the required emergency medical facilities were arranged with the help of PSG Hospitals.

Prithviraj, Secretary, CASC said “CASC is proud to be the organizing club for this qualifying round and we will ensure a safe and exciting event for all concerned. The track has been designed in such a way that it is challenging and at the same time technical also”.

A total of 67 participants took part in the Qualifying round comprising of 8 classes and 17 participants took part in the Open event comprising of SUV and open class. The event ran safely with no incidents and competitors enjoyed the track layout as it was quite technically challenging. The feedback from the competitors has been very encouraging.

The fastest drive of the event K.J.Jacob from Thrissur who clocked a time of 1minute 37.23 seconds in his modified Polo was excited as he was only 0.11 seconds quicker then the next quickest competitor.

The prizes were distributed by L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG Institutions, Coimbatore.

The top 4 winners from the southern zone will compete with the top 4 victors from other zones like North East, West, East and North in the Grand Finals that will take place in 2019.
