Youngsters go to help victims, come home with gifts

The aftermath of cyclone Gaja scarred the people of Tamil Nadu, especially those living in Thanjavur. A group of volunteers came to know that the villages near Peravurani in the aforementioned district needed help and relief materials. So, relief materials worth Rs.5Lakhs were sponsored by students from Trichy and NRIs. Even musician GV Prakash joined with the team and together they were able to send the materials to the victims.

The volunteers mostly included youngsters. The villagers are coconut farmers and their trees have been uprooted by the monstrous storm. The youngsters assisted the villagers in restoring their abode and they distributed the materials as well. After aiding the villagers, the volunteers made preparations to get back but the villagers didn’t want the ands that helped them to leave empty handed. So they shared with them their tender coconuts. A mini truck full of tender coconuts was gifted by the villagers as a token of gratitude and love.Though it was little, their hearts were huge. We have often heard about the magnanimous nature and hospitality of Tamil people in stories but now through this perilous time, we have got to see it.
