TNAU gets design patent for Agricultural Implements 

The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has received a national patent for Dual purpose Agricultural implement. This patent has been granted by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks under the Union Commerce and industry ministry.

The Dual-Purpose Agricultural Implement is designed for both weed management and earthing-up operation in garden land crops. This equipment includes ground wheel, blade, prong, main frame and smooth handle. There are two ground wheels for smooth movement of the machine. The working blade is at the bottom of the equipment. It serves for two purposes: (a) to cut the weeds and (b) it provides sliding action so that the root may not stick to the blade.

The Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, welcomed all the patent holders and distributed patent certificates to them in the presence of Senthil, Dean (SPGS), Raviraj, Dean (AEC&RI), Coimbatore, as well as Natarajan, Co-Ordinator (Patent Cell), Gopal, Professor and Er. Vanitha, Assistant Professor in the School of Post Graduate Studies.
