India-Russia Industry Program Explores Coimbatore’s Goods Export

Under the leadership of SriRamulu, President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a discussion program focused on the development of the India-Russia industry and the export of manufactured goods from the Coimbatore industry to Russia was conducted recently at Chamber Towers, Coimbatore. The event saw the participation of eminent personalities, including Jema Veeramani, Vice President of the India Russia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Oleg Avdeev, Consul General, Consulate General of the Russian Federation in South India.

The primary objective of the meeting, organized by Coimbatore businessmen, was to seek guidance on effectively exporting manufactured goods to Russia and facilitating imports from Russia. This effort aims to establish a thriving trade partnership between the Coimbatore region and Russia.

During the event, Oleg Avdeev highlighted the existing trade relationship between the two countries, stating that over 500 items are imported from Russia under the India-Russia Industrial Partnership Agreement. Furthermore, he noted that India exports tea, coffee, and petroleum products to Russia. However, he cautioned that certain risks are associated with the industry trade.

Avdeev also drew attention to the construction of a new terminal near Chennai for sea travel. Upon its operationalization, this port will significantly reduce costs, expedite export-import processes, and foster growth within the Indian industry.

Addressing the gathering, Ramulu, President of the Chamber of Commerce, expressed the intent to explore the possibility of exporting Coimbatore’s industrial products to Russia. He assured attendees that necessary steps would be taken to implement these opportunities effectively.

The discussion program witnessed the active participation of prominent figures such as Thangapan, General Secretary of the Russia India Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with various members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
