TNAU Empowers FPOs towards Excellence

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) celebrates its Centennial year of millets research (1923-2023) and International year of millets-2023 by organizing “Empowering FPO’s towards excellence” as part of its international millets conference and Futuristic Food Expo 2023, today.

The Governor of Tamil Nadu and Chancellor of TNAU, R.N.Ravi visited the millet exhibition and appreciated the FPOs and entrepreneurs. The welcome address was delivered by Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor, TNAU.

The Chief Guest address was delivered by the Governor of Tamil Nadu in which, the significance of millets in sustainable food chain and conversion of fallow lands to gold mines was emphasized. The importance of millet revolution, development of varieties and agribusiness for the upliftment of global economy was described.  The efforts of TNAU agricultural scientists and farmers towards surplus production were appreciated.

The interactive session with FPO’s emphasized the need for national connectivity of the farmers towards sustainable agriculture in future. MoUs were signed with ten FPOs as a part of the session for efficient technology transfer, for executing better business plans and marketing, teaching good agronomic practices and promoting export.
