Avinashilingam University signs MOU to strengthen women entrepreneurship

Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women in Coimbatore has partnered with IITM Incubation Cell, a leading Deep-tech Start-up hub in India. The aim of the partnership is to foster an entrepreneurial and innovative culture among the students of the institute. The MoU was signed by Bharathi Harishankar, Vice Chancellor of Avinashilingam Institute, and Tamaswati Ghosh, CEO of IITM Incubation Cell.

The Managing Trustee and Chancellor consider this partnership as a significant milestone, emphasizing its potential to transform the future of women students. The initiative aims to empower women to transition from job seekers to job providers and contribute actively to women’s empowerment on a national and global scale.

As a preliminary step, 13 undergraduate engineering students have received capacity-building training to establish a student-run club called “Build Club” on campus. This club encourages an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset among the students. Additionally, five undergraduate engineering students are currently undergoing an internship program at IITM Research Park.
