Inauguration of SREC SPARK Incubation Foundation

SREC SPARK Incubation Foundation, the Centre for Startups inaugurated at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College campus, Coimbatore on Monday.

This incubation facility is to develop and nurture, an eco-system for innovation, research and entrepreneurship in alignment with the startup mission of the Government of India and the Government of Tamilnadu.

It is spread over an area of 12,000 sq. ft to house start-ups, in the thrust areas of Software / IT-based solutions, Electrical and Electronics, Automation and Material Engineering. Its services include Infrastructural support, Mentoring support, Co-working Space, Innovation Laboratory, Library, Networking, etc. The SPARK Incubation has 8 Incubatees at present including RBG.AI, Tectzo Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Ui Bridge Solutions and more.

This Centre was inaugurated by Jairam Varadaraj, Managing Director, ELGI Equipments Limited, Coimbatore in the presence of Ramkumar, CEO and Sheshadri, CFO of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, Ganesh, Chief Executive Officer of SREC SPARK Incubation and Head- Industry Connect, a team of SREC COIN- Collaborative Innovation Centre, representatives from industry associations including CODISSIA, COINDIA and SIEMA, and various incubatees.

Alamelu, Principal of the institution delivered the welcome address and said that innovation and industry problem-solving with research are the strengths of the institution. “Currently the funds for the incubatees are provided by SNR Sons Charitable Trust. However, the SREC SPARK has applied to the Ministry of MSME for ₹1 crore fund, and waiting for the result”, she added.

While asking about the fee payments she said that there will be a nominal fee when compared with the Commercial Incubation Centres.

In his Presidential address, Lakshminarayanaswamy said, “At a point of time when Engineering Education was available only to privileged students SREC opened its doors to ambitious students from all walks of life from wider backgrounds. This SPARK Incubation Foundation is the solution to the quest to sustain the amazing Institution’s trajectory.”

“To make yourself proud, the starting point is what you aspire for in your life. Many times we limit ourselves to what we think is our limitation and most of the time we put those limitations in front and fail. We tend to do things which are convenient and quick and it does not last very long. If you want to build something sustainable you want to take a long or difficult path”, said Jairam Varadaraj.

“Be a role model, build yourself as a role model and do that by having an aspiration that’s far bigger than yourself and build aspirations on a great standard of living”, he added.

A team of faculty members responsible for nurturing the innovative ecosystem were felicitated during the occasion. Ganesh, CEO of SPARK Incubation delivered the vote of thanks.
