KMCH Inaugurates Lung Institute & National Conference on Bronchiectasis

KMCH multispecialty hospital inaugurated a state-of-art Lung Institute at the hospital premises, recently. It aims to offer comprehensive care for patients under one roof.

Prof James D Chalmers, UK, and Dr Jindal, Emeritus Professor, Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine, Chandigarh participated as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour and inaugurated the Institute.

This facility houses two divisions namely, centre for Advanced Lung diseases & Transplantation (CALDAT) and the center for Clinical and Interventional Pulmonology.

CALDAT offers a multi-disciplinary approach and experienced post-transplant care till complete rehabilitation to normal life.

The Centre for Clinical and Interventional Pulmonology offers a range of services that include diagnostics bronchoscopy and bronco alveolar lavage, therapeutic bronchoscopy, etc.

Dr. Ramanathan, Consultant Pulmonologist and Lung Transplant Physician, Dr. Santhakumar, Dr. Venugopal, and Dr. Deepak, Consultant Clinical and Interventional Pulmonology are the team of experts in the institute.

KMCH also conducted a 2days National Level training program and workshop titled ‘Bronchiectasis Course’ in association with EMBARC India (European Multicentre Bronchiectasis Audit and Research Collaboration). Several faculties from India and abroad participated and deliberated on the latest advancements in this field.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman & Managing Director, KMCH said, “Pulmonary medicine is rapidly developing worldwide and also at KMCH. The inauguration of KMCH Lung Institute with two specialized divisions marks yet another milestone in the history of KMCH.
